Canada symposium puts science center stage

by: Michael Stuart

The Nobel Biocare Symposium in Muskoka served up evidence-based solutions to clinical complications.

Dr. David French presents an analysis of implant failures

Five-star learning at a five-star location – that’s what 180 dental professionals experienced at our symposium in Muskoka, Canada.

In the heart of ‘cottage country’, north of Toronto, the JW Marriot resort – one of the top 10 resorts in Canada – provided the perfect location for a weekend of learning and networking in a unique Canadian setting (12–14 June).

Science at the centre

‘Predictability through technology’ was the theme of the symposium, with the focus firmly on scientifically proven ways to prevent and treat clinical complications.

In the 15 years since its launch, our TiUnite implant surface has built a reputation for success. The Symposium began with a presentation of some of Dr. Peter Schüpbach’s work that has contributed to the surface becoming one of the most clinically researched in the world.

Dr. Chandur Wadhwani and Dr. Paul Rosen then took to the stage. Both speakers highlighted the multi-faceted issues facing clinicians when treating peri-implantitis and the use of cement and restoring with low-cost third party restorative solutions were discussed in detail.

Edentulous solutions were covered in depth, not only in the main sessions but in the pre-conference and parallel sessions too, with the All-on-4® treatment concept the common theme.

From symposium to surgery

The program was designed not just to provide attendees with the latest evidence, but to frame it in a way that helps them apply the findings in their day-to-day work.

Common among all speakers was one important message – that the best way to prevent issues is through treatment planning, collaboration, original Nobel Biocare products, and our digital workflow. In short, ‘predictability through technology’.
